• Tailoring course to empower rural women

    Every year, the CSR team arranges a one-year tailoring programme to enhance the skills of the women in Sikharpur, Rajarhat. The programme is designed to make the women more self-reliant and empowered. For 3 years the team has successfully taught these rural women about the nitty gritty of stitching and has encouraged them to earn a livelihood from it. Three women from each batch have been adjudged as best trainees and awarded with sewing machines as an incentive to start working instantly from the comfort of their homes. Presently, as the third batch is on the verge of completion, the CSR team is ready with 40 aspiring women enrolled for the next batch.

  • Driving lessons to increase employability

    Ambuja Neotia, in association with Development Action Society, a NGO of repute, undertook the opportunity to train youths who lost their jobs during the pandemic. A group of 15 young individuals with limited academic exposure, from the suburban and rural pockets of Jelebheri, Khudirabad, Sahid Colony, Daspara,and Ranabhutia, was selected for driving lessons. And within five months, these youths turned into skilled drivers with valid driving licences. Presently, all of them are earning a livelihood as professional drivers.

  • Digital Literacy and Business English Training for College Students

    Ambuja Neotia, in association with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Government College at Rajarhat, have started a 6-month programme on digital literacy and spoken English in May 2022 with 20 students hailing from all corners of Rajarhat. The faculties from the field of Computer Science and English are offering regular lessons on communications and computers. The students, after the successful completion of the course, will be offered placements, as arranged by the NGO, partnered with this project.

  • Beautician Training Session

    As a part of the women’s empowerment initiative, Ambuja Neotia organized a 6-month training programme for budding beauticians. A group of 15 women were selected after a survey to be a part of the first beautician training session arranged by the group. It was a comprehensive six-month course covering the areas of grooming, derma hygiene and safety, manicure and pedicure, basics of hair dressing, skin analysis, makeup techniques, chemical treatments and more. The last two months of the course involved hands-on experience in an actual parlour set up to garner better understanding. The sessions turned out to be a success as 3 out of 15 women have got a job in beauty parlours whereas others have started working in their respective locations, building a reputation among their neighbours, friends and families with their skills.

  • LPG oven repair & maintenance

    October turned into a month of celebrations as 20 youths hailing from the neighbourhood of Udvita completed their course on ‘LPG oven repair & maintenance’. Ambuja Neotia, in association with Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, organised a 90-hour course to educate these youths about repairing LPG ovens. The course also included entrepreneurial training on customer dealing, pricing and safety measures. At the end of the course, these youths were given government approved certificates and business kits comprising range and other instruments. Today they have started making a living as ‘gas mechanics’.

  • Training on soft toy making for 30 underprivileged women

    A 3-month comprehensive training session was organised for 30 underpriviledged women in Rajarhat. Under the guidance of Atghara Jyoti Mohila Udyog (AJMU) – a NGO in Rajarhat, these women over the course of 30 sessions learnt how to make soft toys like parrots, elephants, giraffes and dogs. This training has increased the possibility of the women to earn a living for their family.
